Finished Vinca vs. Anya last night at 3:35 AM, 25 minutes before the deadline. My plans to have it done by midnight went to hell, haha.

Looking at it now, it has a bazillion mistakes and due the flat colors looks awfully flat… I wish I could have spent my time wisely so I could have had time to throw some celshading over background and characters.
I feel like I’ve improved a lot, thou =3 I’m really happy ^^ Backgrounds, the thing I avoid the most, were managed using 3D studio Max as a reference, since pretty much all the comic happened in two spaced, so I modeled them in 3D, added a target camera and with that found the right angles. Having 3DSM and Photoshop at the same time was a bit tiring for my computer, thou ^^;
I also noticed that my character drawings don’t look as bad and flat as usual, an comparing things to my last battle ne year ago was alike… wow!
Again, I’m sad I couldn’t do a good coloring job, since my coloring is my strong point and I have improved greatly lately.
It was really fun to draw this, even if it wasn’t challenging and I hated it for around a week due my mental blocking xD;

Now… my improvement during all this time!

my first and my second battles

Vinca vs. Itami
First one is after the 3 pages intro that took me a month or more to do and that looks really nice xD;
Only the first age of that battle is colored, the rest are all toned in like 10 minutes (all of them as a whole).
I attempted to ink al the pages by hand with a fineliner, but ended up doing some major editing in photoshop…. they still ended up looking awful… I still don’t know how I even got a B with that Dx;

In Vinca’s VOID  timeline, Itami’s half of the battle should be read next, then Mize’s Beyond Battle “Abrupt return part one“.

Vinca vs. Lynnie
Second one after… 6 months of inactivity or so, due waiting for Nishikawa (Mize’s artist) to upload a Beyond Battle that continued the battle with Itami.
It was an improvement! I mean, I actually managed to color it and add effects! But it was still lacking in perspective and background departments.
I don’t remember if I inked that one by hand or not… probably I did.

Third and fourth battles

Vinca vs XXO.
This battle happens during or right after the event “King of Monsters”, and the big monster appearing there is actually Headhunter.
I actually lost this battle xD;
I didn’t manage to finish it Dx; My backgrounds were lacking and my “action” shots were lacking as well. The inking on the characters was lovely, thou =3 It was a fresh and funny style and I enjoyed doing it a lot =3

Vinca vs. Anya
My last one so far. To understand what’s going on, you should go read Anya’s previous battles.
This one was a boring battle, plot-wise, but that’s what was supposed to happen, so… yeah xD;
I had to play and use different camera angles and planes to keep it interesting, but I think it could have been greatly improved.
As I mentioned, my backgrounds improved a lot =3 My inking was lame and rushed, done with the tablet Dx; And didn’t manage to color it properly ._.

Well… next battle will be even better and I’ll show some serious improvement! ^^ i hope I can make a battle one.
Oh, and I have to draw this beyond Battle to show some of Vinca’s past…. I need to plan that >o
Now… off to color FoT stuff! or get a good nap Dx;
